It all happened by accident. When I opened the last can from my fridge on Sunday I knew I wasn't going to be able to get to the store in time for my next fix. So I figured what better time to quit?
Monday I suffered. I had a headache all afternoon and had to tune that out and teach my beloved cycle class that night. I made it through but I bet someone in class sensed I was off. I was crashing and I was crashing hard!
It is now Thursday afternoon. Still no diet coke has crossed my salivating palate. Do I crave it? Heck yeah! But I do feel better and I also figured I am saving about $15/month!
While I know diet coke isn't the worst vice to have, it certainly isn't good for me. What vice do you have? Maybe start small. Possibly avoiding the person's desk at work that always has treats might be a great place to start. Or not ordering the oversized cookies (Jimmy John's are ginormous) to accompany your lunch. Who really needs a cookie that big? Start small. Make changes a little at a time.
Wish me luck on my lack of diet coke. However, I am not willing to give up my morning coffee!

I WISH I could Give up my diet coke. I'm just not ready. Jack is STILL not sleeping thru the night and I HATE Coffee. I'm sure it would help me lose the last 5 lbs needed from Jack! Keep me motivated Girl!
Congratulations!! We have so many diet coke addicts in the office, and when the vending machine is empty, it gets down right dangerous around here!
Thank you for the advice on the spin class! I will stick to it, I know I have alot to learn, and I just have to smile when I think about the day I kick butt in Al's class!
hats off to you! that's a tough one to kick. The fizz and bubbles can be so tempting... then the caffine kicks in... sweet. I don't know how you survived. Great will power - keep it up Darc! jh
Stay strong! Look the can of Diet Coke in the eye and give it the finger :)
A few months back I had a nasty bout with a stomach bug and, because I couldn't eat or drink much of anything, I went through caffeine withdrawal at the same time. Once my stomach was in a place to drink coffee again, I decided to pass (the caffeinated kind, anyway). It was a hell of a way to kick it, but mentally it was easier since I didn't want it anyway. I think Coke, like coffee, isn't entirely evil (I used to love picking up a vanilla Coke from Sonic after races in Texas...) so will you be able to have one every now and then, or will you completely fall of the wagon at the first sip??
I love this post! I had a diet coke addiction years ago and have managed to kick it. But now I need to get off my duff and work on my other little pet problems;) Numero Uno is limiting the sugar... sigh.
You are very, very, very brave women. How can you stand to pass up all the billboards and ads you always see for Coke? Vice for me... hmmmm.... definitely starbucks grande coffee with 2 pumps of mocha in the am. with about 4 tablespoons of chocolate coffee creamer. Sound like I have a coffee/chocolate addiction?
