Diet Coke is the Devil!

I have regressed. For those of you just tuning in, I gave up diet coke a few months ago and while off the devilish liquid, noticed some positive things happening.

We hosted two get togethers at our house this week. My husband bought a 12 pack of diet coke for our guests. I gave him 'the look' when I saw it in the form of "thanks for you support honey". Here is the deal with diet coke and me. If I am at the store, I have no problem not buying it. However, if it is sitting in my fridge, nice and cold, I can't resist. Just can't. Turns out one of our guests also brought a 12 pack of diet coke. Ugh.

So here I am, my weakness in the fridge. What is a girl to do? My conclusion is just to enjoy the devil til' it is gone and for future parties, just by a 2-liter (for some reason pop in plastic bottles doesn't have the same appeal to me).

What is your weakness? What do you do to keep it in moderation?

Cold Turkey

No, not the turkey you eat. But I did it. I quit cold turkey. I am sure you are wondering what I am referring to. Yes, I was addicted. I admit it. I still crave it. I went through withdrawals. I am sure I will regress. Are you still wondering? Well, I am a coke addict. Diet coke that is. I am(was) a two canner a day.

It all happened by accident. When I opened the last can from my fridge on Sunday I knew I wasn't going to be able to get to the store in time for my next fix. So I figured what better time to quit?

Monday I suffered. I had a headache all afternoon and had to tune that out and teach my beloved cycle class that night. I made it through but I bet someone in class sensed I was off. I was crashing and I was crashing hard!

It is now Thursday afternoon. Still no diet coke has crossed my salivating palate. Do I crave it? Heck yeah! But I do feel better and I also figured I am saving about $15/month!

While I know diet coke isn't the worst vice to have, it certainly isn't good for me. What vice do you have? Maybe start small. Possibly avoiding the person's desk at work that always has treats might be a great place to start. Or not ordering the oversized cookies (Jimmy John's are ginormous) to accompany your lunch. Who really needs a cookie that big? Start small. Make changes a little at a time.

Wish me luck on my lack of diet coke. However, I am not willing to give up my morning coffee!
