My New Running Buddy!

Freyja is her name. She has been the perfect addition to our family. AND, has ignited the fire I needed to get my butt out the door to log some serious miles. Let's back up.

I have been a runner all of my life. However, I didn't get really fast until I got Loki, then Gunnar way back when. They were the reason for my running and the result a faster me. They came to us before children so they were our world. They did everything with us and they would run miles upon miles to please us. Believe me, they loved it.

As time went on, they got old, we had kids, they couldn't run as far or fast. My body did kind of the same thing! Of course I am getting older, but I was losing the desire to get out there. We lost Gunnar first to cancer, then Loki this past June to a disease in his esophagus. I have lots of fond memories with those boys, especially our runs and road trips.

It's kind of corny but I loved the Red Hot Chili Peppers songs lyrics to "Road Trippin" which summed up me and my boys on our constant get-a-ways:

So now my boys are gone. Time for a fresh start with a girl. Freyja is her name and she was born to run and be part of our family. Now I remember the joy of running. I'm back!
